The HSPT exam consists of different subtests. The test derives a raw score by adding up the number of correct answers in each subtest. There is no negative marking. The raw score in each subtest is then converted into a standard score. Each student's standard score is compared to test results from a national sample of students. Based on this, a national percentile ranking (NPR) is derived for each subtest. The national percentile ranking indicates what percentage of students in the sample scored less than you. For example, if your NPR is 39, it means you did better than 39% of students in that same sample. If you scored 92%, you did better than 92% of the national sample of test-takers. The highest percentile score a student can receive is 99 and the lowest is 1.

HSPT test measures the following skills:

-Cognitive Skills: Cognitive skills include verbal skills and quantitative skills.

-Verbal skills denote your skills and ability in language and social studies.

-Quantitative skills include your reasoning and problem-solving skills in fields like mathematics and science that involve numbers and quantities.

-Basic Skills: Basic skills include reading, mathematical, and language skills.

-Reading skills entail skills in comprehension, interpretation, inference, and vocabulary strength.

-Mathematic skills indicate problem-solving capacity using mathematic calculations.

-Language skills include your ability to apply language rules like grammar and punctuation.

The HSPT test includes a series of mathematical, quantitative, reading, verbal, and language subtests. Students receive scores for each subtest. These individual subtest scores are combined to create a Total Basic Skills score, a Total Cognitive Skills score, and a Battery Composite score.

-Total Basic Skills Score: This score is the sum of scores in mathematics, language, and reading subtests.

-Total Cognitive Skills Score: This score is a total of the scores earned in the verbal and quantitative subtests.

-Composite Score: This score is a total of all the subtest scores (i.e., the scores in mathematics, language, reading, verbal, and quantitative).

These three scores are called composite scores. They are converted into standardized scores and then into national percentiles.

Some schools might also give optional tests in areas like science, religion, and mechanical aptitude. If a school opts to use optional tests, the results aren't included in the Battery Composite Score.

Depending on your goals, you can start preparing for the Digital SSAT as early as 8th grade (Upper Level HSPT Exam). The Archdiocese (Catholic Church) and Parochial schools administers the delivery of the exam and there are certain dates usually at the end of the year for the HSPT. The test is for 8th grade students, applying for entrance into a catholic or parochial high school.

For the digital HSPTT, we see an improvement anywhere from 200 to 600 points. However, it is important to note that this is dependent on the student, the programing, and background entry scores and course completion competencies in Math and English/ Language Arts . -Mock exams- practice, practice, practice exams to help further recognize testing patterns and mastery of concepts, skills and strategies.

Through this method, when it comes to the actual exam, students excel and oftentimes find themselves with extra time to review their responses.  We provide students mock exams, under actual testing conditions and also accommodate students for extended timing circumstances.

Many tutoring companies are large companies advertising tutors who have scored perfect scores but our philosophy focuses more on the teaching, learning science, confidence building and overall curiosity for learning and mastering test-taking skills. All of our tutors have had some kind of experience in the past teaching, and many are involved with the community,  leadership roles and have a vast experience of what to do  and what not to do when it comes to preparing for standardized exams. Our tutors not only serve as valuable guides for students, but mentors and role models as they enter college/ university.

In-Person Tutoring: Conducted at a physical location such as our tutoring center, your home, or a local library. Offers face-to-face interaction with the tutor.

Virtual Tutoring: Conducted online through video conferencing platforms. Provides flexibility and convenience, allowing you to learn from any location with an internet connection.

We offer flexible scheduling to accommodate your other commitments and activities. Many of our tutors are either young professionals or students so their schedule actually lines up with local students. We can arrange sessions at various times, including early mornings, late evenings, and weekends. If your availability changes, we are happy to adjust your schedule as needed.

Our tutors are carefully vetted based on their qualifications, experience, and expertise in the subject matter. A big part of our hiring process is evaluating their ability to teach and communicate ideas. A perfect-scoring tutor is worthless to us if they cannot teach. The first session typically involves an initial assessment to determine your current level, strengths, and areas for improvement. One thing that we do as well is a study technique evaluation. We will evaluate the student’s methods of studying and provide recommendations to benefit the student outside of scheduled lessons. The tutor will work with you to set specific goals and develop a personalized study plan. It’s also an opportunity to discuss any concerns or preferences you may have.
